This special session is sponsored by
the Technical Committee #15 of the
International Association for Pattern Recognition (IAPR TC15)
This special session provides a forum for presenting and discussing research results and applications
at the intersection of pattern recognition, image analysis on one side and graph theory on the other side.
In addition, given the avenue of new structural/graphical models and structural criteria (e.g. belief-propagation, specific graphs under the constellation approach, graph-cuts, dominant sets) for solving computer-vision problems like segmentation, clustering, stereo, matching, and object recognition, this special session encourages researchers in this more general context to actively participate in the special session. Furthermore, new trends in inexact graph matching such as approximate graph edit distance, distance based pattern recognition, graph kernels are also highly encouraged. Finally, the application of graphs to pattern recognition problems in other fields like computational chemistry and bioinformatics is also an important topic within the scope of this special session. The list of topics of this special session includes thus (without being limited to):
- graph matching,
- graph based image segmentation,
- irregular (graph) pyramids,
- graph representation of shapes,
- graph learning and clustering,
- graphs vs rigid structures (quadtrees, pyramids),
- graph transformations,
- data mining with graphs,
- belief-propagation methods,
- graph-cuts methods,
- graphs in constellation models,
- graphs in computational chemistry and bioinformatics,
- graph kernels,
- distance based structural pattern recognition

Color perception plays an important role in object recognition and scene understanding both for humans and intelligent vision systems. Recent advances in digital color imaging have led to an explosion in a variety of applications including medical imaging, content-based image retrieval, biometrics, watermarking, digital inpainting, remote sensing, visual quality inspection, among many others.
As a result, automated processing and analysis of color images has become an active area of research, which is witnessed by the large number of publications during the past two decades.
The goal of this special session is to bring together researchers and practitioners working in the area of Color Imaging and applications. read more>>
